Lecture Title: The Vernacular – Who Needs it?
The concept of solving problems ‘locally’ through a use of material, form, content, medium and context has resulted in the current focus for my research into the ‘vernacular’. The term refers to a way of looking at ordinary, common or unschooled approaches to communication and problem solving performed by ‘everyday’ people.

My research shows that these localized or necessity based solutions to problems prove to have sustainable values in terms of social-cultural, ecological and economic fitness for purpose.
